Note: Failure to pay road tax attracts a penalty of 25% per annum on the outstanding amount. The RTO calculates this fine on the 16th of each month, computed proportionately on a day-to-day basis.
Granting Transport Permits
RTO in Himachal Pradesh issues permits for commercial and transport vehicles used for business purposes. These include state permits and national permits. Temporary permits are also issued when needed. Taxis, passenger buses, rickshaws, goods carriers, etc. and contract carriages need these permits to operate within Himachal Pradesh or travel across state borders.
