Temporary RC
When you purchase a new vehicle, the car dealer usually assigns it a temporary RC. It means the vehicle is new and has not yet been assigned a permanent vehicle number. Temporary RC is usually valid for a maximum of one month before which the vehicle must be registered with the concerned RTO. However, if there is a delay, you can apply for an extension up to 2 times, specifying the reason each time.

Permanent RC
You must apply for a permanent RC for your vehicle within 7 days of purchase, excluding journey time. Permanent RC is valid for 15 years for a private vehicle and must be renewed every 5 years thereafter.
