Driving Licence Services

Road Tax Collection
Road tax in Ladakh is charged under the Jammu and Kashmir Motor Vehicle Taxation Act, 1957, and is listed below.

*Note: If you bring a vehicle from another state or Union Territory to re-register it in Ladakh, the Road/Token Tax depends on the vehicle's age: if the vehicle is less than 10 years old, the Road/Token Tax will be charged on a pro-rata basis for its remaining lifespan (based on a total vehicle life of 15 years), but if the vehicle is 10 years or older, the Road/Token Tax will be the exact same full amount as applicable to a brand-new vehicle.
Transport Permits
Commercial vehicles in Ladakh need a valid permit, including a state permit, a national permit, and an All India Tourist Permit, under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. Goods carriage permits are used for commercial vehicles that carry goods. Stage carriage permits are used for buses that run on approved routes. Temporary permits can be used to cover short-term needs, such as seasonal transport or special occasions.
Vehicle Registration Process in Ladakh
You must register the vehicle within 7 days of delivery, excluding the journey period, using the steps given below:

Collect Form 21 and Form 22 from the dealer. You should also have Form 22A if a separate body was built on the chassis.

Fill Form 20 for vehicle registration.

Keep insurance proof, address proof, citizenship proof and temporary registration details, if any.
